SAVE A CHILD FROM SLAVERY
The Save a Slave program will enable an individual or organization to save one child slave from Lake Volta for $1000 as well as help support that child for a year. After the child is rescued the donor will receive information on that child including their name, age, a photo, their story as well as a means to keep in contact with that child if they so choose.
The initial rescuing process costs $500 which includes the trips back and forth to Lake Volta, the child’s medical bills and their first set of clothing. The remaining funds are used to support that child for a year including additional clothing, medical issues, meals and school costs.
CHILDREN'S VILLAGE
The Children’s Village will be a safe haven for all the orphaned children rescued from slavery on Lake Volta. On the newly
donated plot of land multiple pods homes will be built enabling John and Stacy to continue rescuing more children since they are currently at capacity.
Each Safe House will be comprised of four bedrooms, a communal living area and kitchen/dining area. The homes will be able to house twelve kids each as well as two house parents. Through building this new village, City of Refuge, will be able to create a comfortable and safe environment which will enable the children to continue to grow and learn.
Money donated to the Children’s Village will go towards: Safe House, Staff/Volunteer housing, Playground Equipment, Bus, and Sport Facilities.
FAITH ROOTS INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY
One of the issues that John and Stacy have encountered is that many of the children are academically many years behind their age group. In order to combat this issue, they have created a school in which the students are able to learn and catch up to their grade, as well as, learn English.
Currently, the City of Refuge has an American teacher living with them and educating the children at the orphanage. Once a student is on par with the public education system they are able to attend school.
Money donated to Faith Roots International Academy will go towards: Computers, Printers, Projectors, Laminating Machine, Copy Machine, Microscopes, Science Lab Materials, Desks and Chairs.
LAKE VOLTA RESEARCH AND RESCUE
As a major portion of the City of Refuge, John and Stacy are focused on freeing all the children working on Lake Volta. The process of freeing a child generally takes about three to four months and many visits back and forth to Lake Volta.
In order to reach many of the communities surrounding the lake, John and Stacy have to take a boat, as well as, cover rough terrain. Money donated to Lake Volta Research and Rescue will go towards: 4x4 Vehicle and Boat.
SEVEN CONTINENTS FAIR TRADE COMPANY
One of the main goals of City of Refuge, in addition to freeing the children working on the lake, is to stop the problem at its roots. Many of the women being targeted to sell their children are abandoned by their mates, left with children, and have no way
to generate income.
This leaves these women with little ability to feed their children or pay their monthly rent (around $4 a month). Many women sell their children to people who offer to take the kids to the lake and educate them and care for them. The women often do not realize that their child will be made to work 18 hour days for the men taking them to the lake.
John and Stacy believe that one way to help stop this problem, in addition to educating the mothers, is to offer them a way to generate income. This Fair Trade Company will begin by making jewelry and bags that will be sold in the United States. Money donated to Seven Continents Fair Trade Company will go towards: sewing machines, materials, and bead and jewelry-making
materials.

Thank you again for your generous contribution to Finding Refuge to
enable us to take a stand against child slavery.
